One of the missions of Chèvres is to provide a gateway to outdoor activities that can be technical and intimidating. It's all about having fun, far from the pressure to perform. So here's our series of introductory events coming up this winter.
For women of all ages and levels of outdoor experience. The important thing is to be motivated and Curious. Most participants sign up for our activities on their own! It's a great opportunity to meet new people, and maybe even find new adventure partners. Each time, it's a new group with whom to bond, learn, laugh and try something new for fun!
We start with the basics: to take part in our introductory events, you don't need to know the activity or have any previous experience. As the name suggests, the aim is to introduce you to the equipment and basic techniques, in a spirit of discovery.
If a minimum level is required, this is always specified in the "level required" tab on the event page. You don't have to be a great athlete: the most important thing is to want to try something new, get out of your comfort zone and meet other like-minded people!
Here, there's no question of equipping yourself from head to toe before even trying out the activity. Sometimes you're just discovering your new passion, and sometimes you're just enjoying yourself for a day. That's why we supply you with all the equipment you need, or make it available for hire for the duration of the activity.
In Quebec City, we're trying out this unique discipline! No prerequisites, all specialized equipment is included and lent to you by Canot à glace Expérience. Their guides will accompany you throughout the activity for a memorable experience, including a snack break on the ice halfway through.
Wondering how it works to ski or splitboard up a mountain in sealskins? Well, we're here to share our tips with you. From equipment use and climbing techniques, to managing the heat and transitioning to the descent, we'll cover all that and more, in small groups.
Thanks to our partners Nordica and Burton, you can rent touring skis or a splitboard for the day.
Prerequisites: basic downhill skills on groomed slopes. No experience with touring equipment necessary.
February 16 - Sutton (technical downhill course in the morning, introduction to touring in the afternoon)
Just minutes from downtown Quebec City, a day to try ice climbing in a spectacular setting, at Montmorency Falls. It's open to all: no previous experience necessary. Accompanied by a qualified guide, you'll discover the different techniques in complete safety.
Specialized equipment is provided (boots, helmet, harness, rope, ice axes, crampons and safety gear), as is coffee and soup to keep you warm!
Accompanied by our professional guides, we invite you to discover winter camping over two nights in the great outdoors. You'll learn how to set up camp, deal with the cold and damp, choose the right clothes and learn the basics of orienteering... A shelter is also available at all times, if needed!
We lend you winter sleeping bags (-30°C) and, if necessary, additional equipment (tents, mattresses, etc.).
We round things off with a Zoom meeting before your trip, to help you prepare and ask your guides all your questions (no silly ones here).
It can be intimidating to try jumping or going into the snowpark the first few times. So it's a fun introduction to freestyle, with a gang of girls to motivate and encourage each other. An opportunity to learn from experienced coaches, with freeride and slopestyle workshops.
Prerequisite: to take full advantage of the workshops, you need to be comfortable on the black runs in the resort.
