SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT POLICY OF THE MOUNTAIN CHÈVRES COMMUNITY

1. INTRODUCTION

Les Chèvres de Montagne is committed to integrating the principles of sustainable development into all its activities. As an organization dedicated to outdoor sports, we are committed to minimizing our ecological footprint and preserving natural environments, by adopting eco-responsible practices and encouraging sustainable behavior. We foster an inclusive, caring environment where every woman can progress at her own pace, without pressure to perform. Our commitments cover three main areas: environmental protection, social equity and responsible management of our resources and partnerships.

2. ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENTS

2.1 Protecting biodiversity and respecting natural environments

- Application of Leave No Trace principles in our activities to limit our impact on the environment.

- Use marked trails and make participants aware of their fragility.

- Strict observance of rules concerning flora and fauna (distance from animals, no picking, respect for natural habitats).

2.2 Responsible management of resources and residual materials

- Reducing waste at source by minimizing the use of single-use products and encouraging participants to bring their own reusable crockery.

- Sorting of residual materials (recycling, composting, deposit) at events and raising participants' awareness of best practices.

- Prioritizing electronic communications to limit paper use and reduce environmental footprint.

- Lending and leasing equipment, where possible, to avoid over-consumption and promote a circular economy.

- Organization of an annual sportswear thrift shop to give a second life to used sports and outdoor clothing.

2.3 Mobility and reducing GHG emissions

- Promotion of carpooling between participants via dedicated platforms.

- Prioritize the participation of local framers and guides at each activity location to minimize travel.

- Assessment and gradual reduction of the carbon footprint of travel by promoting sustainable alternatives.

3. SOCIAL COMMITMENTS

3.1 Inclusion and diversity

- Creating an inclusive environment where every woman can learn and progress in the sport at her own pace, without pressure to perform.

- Encouraging the participation of women from different backgrounds and levels of experience, and adapting activities to suit different fitness levels.

3.2 Raising awareness and mobilization

- Raising awareness of the impact of pressure to perform and promoting an approach based on pleasure and personal achievement that respects the limits of each individual.

- Training employees and guides in the principles of sustainable development and good environmental practices.

- Raising awareness of environmental issues among participants and the community at large, both during activities and through communications (social networks, newsletters, etc.).

- Encourage participants to adopt eco-responsible behaviors with concrete tools and appropriate recommendations.

- Organize maintenance work on mountain bike trails to raise awareness of the fragility of natural environments and encourage the preservation of recreational infrastructures.

- Organization of ecojogging activities (notably for Earth Day), to combine sport and environmental commitment.

4. ECONOMIC AND GOVERNANCE COMMITMENTS

4.1 Responsible purchasing

- Evaluation of suppliers and partners to give preference to those who are local and/or adopt eco-responsible practices.

- Minimize packaging in food purchases and promotional products, by favoring bulk, reusable or compostable containers, and limiting superfluous packaging.

- Replace physical gifts with gift cards whenever possible, to limit the consumption of physical products and offer participants greater flexibility.

4.2 Governance and transparency

- Development of a sustainable development action plan with measurable objectives.

- Monitoring environmental and social performance, in particular through participant surveys and quantifiable indicators.

- Transparent communication on our sustainable development commitments and actions.

- Compliance with Aventure Écotourisme Québec (AEQ) accreditation requirements and standards, including quality, safety and eco-responsibility practices.

5. Implementation and follow-up

- Integration of this policy into internal decision-making and training processes.

- Periodic assessment of progress achieved, with adjustment of practices in line with advances in sustainable development.

- Review the action plan every two years and update this policy in line with results and new strategic directions.

- Encouraging innovation to develop new eco-responsible practices.

6. Conclusion

Les Chèvres de Montagne is determined to evolve as an exemplary organization in terms of sustainable development. This policy is part of a long-term commitment and relies on the involvement of all stakeholders - employees, guides, participants and partners - to ensure the preservation of the natural environment and the sustainability of our activities.
