MATERIAL
Warm clothing (several layers)

• Coat: Gore-Tex, or shell (windproof with some stretch), or another type with layers (favour polyester and/or merino wool with a fleece layer under your coat)
• Winter coat or down jacket to keep warm during belaying and demonstrations; for some it will also be for climbing when you tend to be colder.
• Pants: comfortable, multi-layer system, preferably of the same principle as the top; if you have comfortable lined pants, that's perfect if you tend to get cold. If your pants are at all wide at the bottom, it would be preferable to have gaiters if you don't want to damage them with crampons. Otherwise, use duct tape. Don't wear pants that are too new.
• Toques,
• 2 pairs of mittens/gloves for insurance; gloves for better ice axe handling; polyester or wool under-gloves to handle your things and never have your hands without protection from the cold is a plus.
• Neck warmer
• Several pairs of spare wool socks
• Hand and foot warmers
• Sunglasses or ski goggles (mandatory)
• Your lunch - avoid foods that freeze easily
• Energy snacks
• Water bottle
• Coffee thermos
