Day 0 - Arrival in Whitehorse
Meet the group and your guides.
Day 1 - Whitehorse to Mayo
Departing Whitehorse, we drive 400 km north to Mayo, in the heart of the Yukon. We take the floatplane from the Stewart River. After a 30-minute flight, we're alone in the middle of one of North America's wildest mountain ranges.
We set up camp for our first night in the heart of the mountains.
Days 2 to 7 - Hiking in the Ogilvies
For 7 days, we'll be hiking in the Ogilvies, off the beaten track, on an exclusive itinerary! Day after day, we use topographical maps and our knowledge of the area to find our way around these immense, wild landscapes. We cross passes, travel through large alpine valleys, cross streams, follow ridges... We're on our own and take the time to observe the many caribou and Dall sheep we come across along the way. With a bit of luck, we might also see elk, wolves and grizzly bears!
Day 8 - Arrival in Dawson City
In the afternoon of Day 8, after hiking some 60 kilometers through the Yukon wilderness, we join the Dempster Highway, Canada's most northerly highway, at Tombstone Territorial Park. From here, we drive to Dawson City, where we spend the rest of the day. This village on the banks of the Yukon River saw its heyday during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898. The atmosphere in the village today is unique, and historical artifacts are everywhere.
Day 9 - Return to Whitehorse
We drive to Whitehorse, arriving at the end of the day. Your last evening is free.
Day 10 - Return to Quebec
As your stay draws to a close, you'll be taken to the airport for your return flight to Quebec.
This trip is aimed at women in good physical shape, who are used to long independent hikes. We carry all our own gear, so plan on carrying around 30lbs in your backpack.
We'll be walking an average of 6 hours a day, with ascents and descents of between +300m and +800m, alternating between more and less difficult days. The terrain is varied (scree, slopes, ridges, bush crossings, etc.), with some aerial sections likely to impress those prone to vertigo. This trip is therefore recommended for experienced walkers and/or those in good physical shape, who want to discover off-trail walking and experience an extraordinary adventure!
