REGISTRATIONS OPEN AFTER NOVEMBER 1 INFO CALL // We wanted to offer a hiking trip with a Dolce Vita twist! Discover authentic Crete, far from the crowds and tourist circuits. For 10 days, you'll walk between Sfakia and Sougia, without transfers, in the heart of the Lefka Ori mountains. Between spectacular gorges, isolated villages, secret coves and the warm welcome of the Cretans, this trip is lived at walking pace. Away from the crowds, you'll explore rocky paths and enjoy a well-earned local meal every evening.
This long coastal and mountain trek reveals the most authentic Crete. Nights are divided between family-run inns and shepherd's huts perched in the heart of the Lefka Ori. We explore the Aradena and Samaria gorges, climb Mount Gigilos, discover the life of Cretan shepherds and end up with our feet in the water at Sougia. An adventure punctuated by swimming, local meals and the warmth of the Mediterranean sun. We're telling you: it's going to be great!

Small hotels or charming village inns. The inns we choose are simple but comfortable, often family-run, and offer a warm welcome. Some have a dozen rooms, others barely 6-7...
As the number of rooms is limited, we prefer to pair up those traveling alone, in double occupancy (separate beds). It is also possible for the group to be split between two neighboring establishments.
A traveler wishing to be in single occupancy must indicate this when registering. We only know the availability of single rooms in all accommodations a few weeks before departure. The supplement is then adjusted in proportion to the number of single/twin nights.
Breakfast to get the day off to a good start. Picnic stop for lunch on the trek.
Dinner on the terrace of a local taverna.
*This trip cannot accommodate a vegan diet.
Luggage is transported from one accommodation to another. You carry only your day bag, which contains your picnic lunch.

**This itinerary outlines the main features of the trip, but nothing is set in stone. **The unexpected, often the most beautiful moments, can transform the route: an unknown local festival, or a newly opened region to discover. Sometimes nature gets in the way: snow-covered passes, torrential rain or landslides. In these cases, the itinerary fades into the background to make way for adventure, under the responsibility and discernment of the guide, who guarantees the safety and spirit of the trip.

The hikes last from 4 to 7 hours a day (some days a little longer, counting breaks) over 10 days. The trek offers two ascents of around 900m each (Zeranokefala and Gigilos). The day when we climb up the Samaria Gorge is the one with the greatest difference in altitude, at +1200m. The trails are well-developed, although they are mostly very, very rocky (beware, the descents may seem harder on the knees).
These more demanding days are interspersed with easier days with swimming.
For those looking for their first long-distance trip, Crete is an excellent choice: if you're short of energy, you can easily take a day or two off, as we always sleep two (or three!) consecutive nights in the same place. The group will meet up with you in the evening, in time for the aperitif! You carry only your daypack. Heat can be a factor.
