REGISTRATIONS OPEN AFTER NOVEMBER 18 INFO CALL // Discover the treasures of the Peruvian Andes and the Quechua culture on this 15-day trip, 9 of which are spent hiking. With 6 days spent in the valley around the ancient capital Cusco, you can acclimatize to life at altitude while discovering the richness of Inca history. Once you've acclimatized, the adventure begins on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, the country's mythical must-see site. Then it's on to the Ausangate trek, a 6-day loop through the heart of the Vilcanota Cordillera, southeast of Cusco.
On the Ausangate trek, you'll live between passes over 4500 m high, isolated valleys, glacial lakes and thermal springs into which you can immerse yourself. You'll come across Quechua communities living to the rhythm of their llama and alpaca herds, and tread the famous Rainbow Mountain. A high-altitude Andean adventure, vibrant with culture and raw nature. Due to the altitude and the demanding hiking itinerary, this trip is suitable for female hikers who are regular sports enthusiasts.

Please note that the Adventurous and Daring member discount cannot be applied to travel events.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, trekking camps are set up near a watering hole (a small lake or river) and, in addition to the three-person tents where travelers sleep in pairs, there is a kitchen tent and a communal tent where meals (and card games! ) are shared at the table.
Between treks, warm and welcoming hostels. Showers generally have hot water, toilets can be shared and there can be up to three beds per room.
In town, we eat in restaurants. A variety of menus to suit all tastes.
On the trek, the cuisine is prepared by a local cook. But expect to eat potatoes with every sauce, every day!
Mate de coca is on the table every day, and can help with altitude acclimatization.
*This trip cannot accommodate a vegan diet.
On treks, luggage is carried by mules. It is important to respect the recommended weight and equipment list. Any excess luggage not required for the trek will be left in the luggage locker in Cusco.
The weight limit for the trek is 12kg per person (excluding what you carry with you and in your daypack). No extra weight is allowed.

**This itinerary outlines the main features of the trip, but nothing is set in stone. **The unexpected, often the most beautiful moments, can transform the route: an unknown local festival, or a newly opened region to discover. Sometimes nature gets in the way: snow-covered passes, torrential rain or landslides. In these cases, the itinerary fades into the background to make way for adventure, under the responsibility and discernment of the guide, who guarantees the safety and spirit of the trip.

Difficulty level - Challenging
The last day of the Inca Trail has many uneven Inca steps.
The 6-day Ausangate trek: we circumnavigate the Nevado Ausangate. The trek is demanding, mainly because of the altitude, with passes up to 5000m and campsites between 4300m and 4900m. However, the effort is well distributed throughout this trek in Peru. Expect to walk 5 to 8 hours a day, with daily vertical drops of 800m. You need to be in very good physical shape to cope with the daily vertical drops.
You carry only your day pack.
The altitude, the 6-day hike and the cool nights mean that this sustained-level trek almost merits the appellation "demanding"... almost, but not quite, so consider it a big sustained level, a sustained++ level!
